Tips For Shipping Electronics Safely
Use the original box if you have it. Otherwise, double-box the unit: pack it in one box, then place that box inside a larger one with at least 2–3 inches of padding on all sides. We recommend using a double-wall box for the outside box.
Wrap the unit in bubble wrap or foam. Avoid loose packing peanuts directly against the unit, since heavy equipment can settle through them and hit the side of the box.
Remove turntable platters, counterweights, dust covers, and removable knobs and pack them separately. Lock down tonearms and protect or remove the cartridge. Remove tubes from tube gear and wrap each one individually.
Amplifiers and receivers are heavy. Make sure the unit cannot shift inside the box, and mark the outside "Fragile" and "This Side Up".
Don't send remotes, cables, or manuals unless they are related to the problem. This keeps your package lighter and nothing gets misplaced.
Use a tracked shipping service and insure the package for the full value of your equipment.
